Wat Nantaram (indefinite age, restored 1925-43 onward)
Wat Nantaram is a Shan-style monastery about 75 kilometers north-east of Phayao city. It was restored in the 1920s by a benefactor who had the structure rebuilt from 1925-43. However, as it was constructed in an area where the majority of citizens are of Tai Lue ancestry, the overall Shan style of the structure is overlaid with Tai Lue motifs such as the sun-ray or peacock design over the front entrance.
According to the author's GPS, Wat Nantaram lies at approximately 19 31.71837' north, 100 18.16412' east (WGS84 map datum).
