Songgwangsa Temple - 송광사 (松廣寺) (founded 9th century)

Songgwangsa was founded in the 9th century as Kilsang-sa during the Unified Silla period by Master Hye-rim, an exponent of the Avatamsaka (Flower Garland) Sutra. The National Preceptor Bul-il Po-jo (1158-1210) selected this temple as ideal for his "Concentration and Wisdom Community" in 1197.
