Paju Hyanggyo - 파주향교 (坡州鄕校) (built early 15th century, reconstructed later)
Hyanggyo are state schools founded during the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) as centers of Confucian learning in preparation for the Civil Service examinations. The original date of construction for this hyanggyo is unclear, as one record indicates it was completed during the reign of King Sejong, while another indicates that it was moved to its present location from Bongseo mountain in 1456 during the reign of King Sejo. In 1660 the hyanggyo was converted into a private academy called Don-am Seowon, although it reverted to a hyanggyo at a later date.
