Hahoe-style House (c. 19th century)

This is a typical square-shaped residence from the 19th century. It once consisted of an inner and outer quarters arranged around a courtyard, where men lived in front and women in the rear. Now the family all lives in the back and the rest of the rooms have been converted into lodging for guests. Now a motel, the house balances the needs of the modern world with the imperative of preserving the past.
