Namgeukru Pavilion (built 1830)

This pavilion was constructed in the 1830s by Go Gwang-il and thirty others in Champyeong, a town in Damyang-gun. It is the largest scale pavilion surviving to the present era in Damyang. According to a signpost on site, children used to play in the shade of the bottom story while adults and the elderly used the upper deck. At the present time it stands in an out-of-the-way location amidst the rice paddies. It is still used by local farmers as a place of rest and socialization.
