Hwanbyeokdang Pavilion - 환벽당 (built early 16th century)
Hwanbyeokdang Pavilion was built by Kim Yunjae, who is better known by his literary name Sachon. The name 'Hwanbyeokdang' was given by another writer, Sinjam, and means 'a place surrounded by green trees and water.' Kim Yunjae spent the last years of his life here training junior scholars. Jeong Cheol studied here before receiving his government position.
The name tablet mounted on the pavilion was written by Song Siyeol, and there are tablets hung inside with poems by Im Eokryeong and Jo Jai.
Most of the literary activity for which this region is famous was done either here or at two other famous sites close by, namely Sigyeongjeong and Soswaewon. The poems written by many leading figures of the day were first recited here.
The ponds located below the pavilion are named Jodae and Yeongso. It is here that Kim Yunje first met Jeong Cheol.
