Gatbawi Stone Buddha - 관봉석조여래좌상(冠峰石造如來坐像) (built 9th century)

At Gwanbong, the southern peak of Palgongsan mountain, sits Gatbawi Buddha, the Buddha of Medicine. Carved sometime in the 9th century, the statue has become one of the chief tourist attractions of the Daegu area (though technically it lies in nearby Kyeongsan City). To be sure, it is perhaps the hardest to reach. The path to the summit rises over 800 meters and takes nearly an hour to climb. Many small hermitages lie in the valleys below.
