Cheongdo Hyanggyo - 청도향교 (淸道鄕校) (built 1734 onward)
Cheongdo Hyanggyo was oriignally built at Gopyeong-dong in the first year of King Seonjo's reign. It was moved to Hapcheon-dong in 1568, and moved again to the present site in 1734 (the 10th year of King Yeongjo). This hyanggyo comprises eight buildings:
- the daeseongjeon hall
- east and west gates
- naesammun (inner three-bay gate)
- myeongryundang (lecture hall)
- dongjae and seojae (east and west shrines)
- sarakru (tower pavilion)
In most cases, the lecture hall stands in a row with the shrine. But in this hyanggyo, each sits side by side.
Enshrined at this hyanggyo are the memorial tablets of many Korean scholars, including Seokhong, Anhyang, I Hwang, I Yulgok, Choe Chiwon, and I Eonjeok.
Since the hyanggyo was moved in 1734 to the present site, it's possible that some of the structures predate 1734.
