Sungsiljae Memorial Hall - 안동 숭실재 (安東 崇室齋) (built 16th century)

This memorial hall, or "jaesa", was constructed to facilitate tomb-side memorial services for Yu Jungyeong, a high-ranking Joseon period (1392-1910) official. According to an inscription found on its ridge beam during repairs in 1987, it was originally part of Neunghyosa Temple. The inscription was written in 1736, or the 12th year of King Yeongjo (1724-76). Prior to that period, the hall was rebuilt in 1558 and repaired in 1622.

The Andong regiion is particularly noted for its well-preserved memorial halls. Other examples in Andong include:

Address: 경북 안동시 서후면 성곡리 886. (Gyeongbuk-do, Andong-si, Seohu-myeon, Seonggok-ri 774).

Location

The approximate location of the memorial hall is 36.634088' N, 128.659829' E (WGS 84 map datum).
