the Ngu Phung (Belevedere of the Five Phoenixes), where the Emperor appeared
on such important occasions as the promulgation of the lunar calendar.
It was also here that Emperor Bao Dai abdicated to Ho Chi Minh's provisional
military government in 1945, signaling the end of the Nguyen Dynasty on
August 30, 1945.
