The Outer Court. The central building is the Hall of
Supreme Harmony, the throne hall of the Emperor. It was last rebuilt
in the years 1695-97. In front of the Hall is a vast courtyard over
30,000 square meters in area. Down the center runs the "Imperial
Pathway", flanked by 100 stone markers that indicate where court officials
were supposed to stand during official ceremonies.
