Detail of lintel, or fronton, of the east gopura of the 4th enclosure.  It is carved from a hard pink sandstone (quartz arenite), as is much of the temple.  Used exclusively for the walls of many Khmer temples is laterite, which is actually hardened soil allowed to dry and become stone-like. Here, we can clearly discern Indra mounted on his three-headed elephant.
